OK this is just… bizarre. But hey, it’s Sunday night and the scammers are being quiet so let’s just go with it.
Mind you, the following is all based on video evidence provided by some person we don’t know named Jessie Grady. Grady is the one who recorded this unhinged woman going on a rage inside a Chicago Michaels store, because discount Mod Podge and glitter can really bring out the worst in people especially around the holidays amiright.
First, the video. Uh, language warning but if you read this website, you’re probably plenty used to it.
The entire thing is pretty good, but in case you can’t get through it, here are some golden quotes from the woman on a mission to cuss out an entire Michaels:
“I don’t know what you’re videoing but your child is stealing” [accuses two year old of jacking Christmas ornaments]
To woman taping her meltdown: “Why don’t you go home to your husband who’s cheating on you”
To store employee: “You’re not gonna give me some liberal lecture about who’s a human”
To the police on the phone, after screaming at the entire store for approximately 8 minutes of tape: “Two black women will not even ring me up because… because… I don’t even know why.”
Toward the end, she says to police that she was discriminated against twice BY TWO BLACK WOMEN (in case they missed that part the first fifteen times she screamed it) because she refused to buy a $1 Michael’s bag for her items.
Campaign organizer Jessie tells us in her campaign that this all went down on Thanksgiving Eve. We’ll let her tell it as she saw it:
I witnessed a white woman engage in a 30 minute racist rant (complete with yelling and cursing and repeated references to the fact that employees were African American) against the employees at a Chicago Michaels store – because she did not like that they offered her the option to purchase a re-usable shopping bag for her larger items. I was directly in front of this customer in line, I stopped at the exit to show my 2 year old a Christmas ornament and witnessed first-hand that the Michaels’ employees did nothing to provoke this verbal attack, and in fact treated all customers with professionalism and courtesy.
So now, because this apparently what we fucking do any time anything happens nowadays, Jessie has this GoFundMe campaign up to benefit the employee at the receiving end of this woman’s anger. “I’d like to do something to try to make it up to the employee who was the main target of this racist attack,” she wrote. She says that all proceeds will go to the employee, who is a mother of three, “to try to make her busy holiday season brighter.”
Yeah, it’s gonna take a lot more than some LEDs wrapped around faux deer antlers covered in glitter to brighten up this holiday season.
