About

Hi! This is our About, somehow you ended up here because you are the curious type or something.

GoFraudMe started as a humble Facebook page after its founder attempted — unsuccessfully — to shut down a GoFundMe campaign was raking in the $$ under completely false (and obviously so) pretenses. This attempt was met with indifference by The Powers That Be at GoFundMe, and so we decided to take matters into our own hands. That campaign was finally removed in September of 2016.

We believe that GoFundMe turns a blind eye to fraud on its platform. We also believe that donors should be empowered to fund projects that are meaningful to them without worrying if their money is truly going to the stated cause or beneficiary. We also believe that grieving families, the disabled, the economically challenged, and other deserving would-be crowdfunders should be able to plead their cases without worrying that they too will be suspected of fraud.

In short, this is a one-person internet vigilante project that aims to pick up the slack where GoFundMe fails to police its own wild frontier. We live in strange times, indeed, and until such time as the law catches up to this new form of thievery, we’ll be here keeping an eye on things. We also enjoy highlighting the ridiculousness of crowdfunding in general, and will use this page to put said ridiculousness front and center where it belongs.

We are not affiliated in any way with GoFundMe, nor do we focus solely on GFM. Crowdfunding fraud happens across all platforms, and that’s why we’re here.

GoFraudMe.com is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.

Reach out any time if you want to hear more and safe crowdfunding, y’all!
