It’s bad enough that you can’t so much as take a virtual fart on the internet without bumping into someone’s GoFundMe page. WEDDINGS! SICK CATS! CAR REPAIRS! POOR LIFE DECISIONS! Around every corner, there’s another plea to bail someone out or buy them a vacation or, well, you get it.
Now, GoFundMe is proud to announce a new partnership with LinkedIn which hopes to remind people GoFundMe is more than just greedy fools with face tattoos and Nigerian princes pretending to be soldiers trapped in Afghanistan:

LinkedIn’s social impact arm, LinkedIn for Good, is introducing a new way for LinkedIn employees to rally around causes they care about — and see direct results. Called LinkedIn Gives, this new platform will be powered by GoFundMe, the world’s largest giving platform. Employees can create their own fundraising campaigns and LinkedIn for Good will match a portion of funds raised for charities and nonprofits.
Great, so LinkedIn employees can show how much they care about __________ [insert cause here] by rattling the digital cup, and we’re guessing GoFundMe will happily take their standard 5% cut?
Should this catch on, we can see where this is going. Instead of dodging your office HR lady with her obnoxious clipboard, you’ll get bombarded with emails about the office GoFundMe.
