Pancreatic Cancer Faker Ashley Lively Pleads Guilty in GoFundMe Fraud Case

We first met Ashley Lively back in April of last year, when it came to light that the 20-year-old from Sweetwater, Tennessee did not, in fact, have stage 4 pancreatic cancer as she claimed.

Her Facebook page is long gone, but we managed to salvage this testicularly-loaded post from January of last year before her fraud was revealed:

Yeah, so, about that.

She went to court in December, looking more like she was going to a hoe down in the back swamp with Bubba and Opie rather than appearing in a court of law.

Well she was back in court this week — wearing a slightly more appropriate for court ensemble — and pleaded guilty to a charge of theft over $1000 relating to the the over $8000 raised by her community and a GoFundMe campaign to support her through her battle with fake cancer.

WATE reports that Chief Assistant District Attorney Shari Tayloe said in court “Lively stated she had stage 4 cancer and with that a GoFundMe page was put up for her called ‘Ashley is fighting this cancer.’ She, in fact, did not have cancer. There were donations made to that GoFundMe account and she drew off of that account here in Monroe County at the Volunteer Federal in Sweetwater for more than $1,000.”

Lively said her mother-in-law set up the GoFundMe campaign. “It went on there and then she went on and got the money out of her bank and handed it to me,” said Lively, who said she was the only one who benefited from funds raised.

She is due back in court on June 26 for sentencing. Hopefully the judge includes community service at a pre-approved cancer charity so Ms Lively can see what it’s really like to fight cancer, especially one as deadly as pancreatic cancer.
